This will be Wausau’s second time hosting the Junior World Championship (1994 was the first) and the first ever international U23 Championship. Junior paddlers age 15-18 from nearly 35 different nations and older paddlers age 19-23 from all over the globe will compete with each other in Wausau to become the best young whitewater canoe and kayak paddlers in the world. Although too young for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, many of the top paddlers in Wausau will most likely participate in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
